People often show their individuality by the clothes they wear and school uniforms prevent individuality and expression from the students. An ACLU lawyer said “America has always prided itself on the individual’s right to self expression. That respect should extend to student clothing.”(Allen Lichtenstein) The lawyer also stated that some people claim wearing school uniforms improves bullying and teasing but there is barely any proof to prove this. The right for freedom of expression is promised in the US constitution. Obviously when kids are forced to wear uniforms, their freedom of expression is being taken away.(Weekly Reader) School uniforms are taking away kids’ independence and freedom to express who they are.
